Harry And David Chili Mix Soup Is Recalled
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the nationwide recall of 1,440 bags of Harry and David Hearthside Soups, Southwestern Chicken Chili Mix.
The Harry & David Operations Corp. of Medford, Ore., said the product might contain another chili soup mix, and thus also contain a milk ingredient that isn’t declared in an ingredient statement, posing a health risk for people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy products.
The recalled soups, with a 8221-1 lot code, are packaged in clear plastic 12- to 16-ounce bags that are each tied at the top with a cream-and-red ribbon. The company said the price sticker states “Fajita Chili.” The product was made for Harry & David by Conifer Specialty Inc., a co-packer.
The FDA said the problem occurred when bags labeled for a previous run of Southwestern Chicken Chili Mix were inadvertently used for a subsequent run of Fajita Chili Mix, which contains a milk ingredient not declared on the Southwestern Chicken Chili Mix ingredient statement.

- Slather room-temperature butter on both sides of your bread slices and place them side by side in a large skillet heated to medium-low.
- Once youve achieved the perfect golden-brown, flip both slices and add your cheese in equal parts on top of each browned slice, and then stack them into a sandwich.
- Once the bottom is golden-brown, flip the sandwich and cook the remaining side.
While simple tomato soup is a perfect accompaniment for grilled cheese, you can amp up your soup game with a bowl of creamy tomato basil bisque.

My wife Beth and her sister Kathy had an emotional phone call with an old family friend in Ukraine on Sunday that left us sad and concerned for her and her family.
Slava was my mother-in-laws live-in caretaker from 2011 until 2016. She had come to America in 2006 to work in the same role with another family. Slava lived a very modest life during her time in the U.S. and sent most of her earnings back to her family in Ukraine. This is a common practice in Ukraine where jobs that pay a decent salary are hard to come by.
When my mother-in-law went into a nursing home, Slava returned to Ukraine to reunite with her family for the first time in ten years. Slavas family lives in the town of Ternopil, which is in western Ukraine, 290 miles from Kyiv.
Slava has two sons and a daughter. Her sons left Ukraine some time ago for work in other countries. Her daughter and her family live close by to Slavas home. Slava had gone to stay with them and eight other relatives for a time after Russia invaded their country.
When we spoke to Slava on Sunday, she said that she had returned to her own home because the tension of the war had caused her blood pressure to rise and she felt that it would be easier to be alone for the time being.
Even though the west of Ukraine has been spared the worst of the fighting and bombing so far, Slava told us that they can hear the explosions in the distance and have taken to hiding in their basement several times a day when the blasts are heard.
