How To Make Lipton Onion Soup Burgers

First, add the packet of onion soup mix to the ground beef. We usually use around 2 pounds of ground beef, but you can easily adjust the recipe as needed.

Then, add ¼ cup of water. Gently mix the ingredients by hand until the meat is firm enough to handle.

Form the meat into hamburger patties. You should be able to get 6 or 7 patties — around ½ inch thick each.

Then, gently press the middle of each patty with your thumb to make an indentation. This helps prevent the hamburgers from shrinking too much while they cook.

What To Serve With Lipton Onion Soup Burgers

As hearty and delicious as burgers are, they arent as much fun to eat without the sides! The sides add excitement to the table, making your meal even more unforgettable.

Looking for ideas? Here are some dishes that complement burgers wonderfully.

  • French Fries. Ah. The classic! Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and deliciously salty all over. Take it up another notch by drizzling truffle oil over your fries!
  • Onion Rings. The subtle sweetness of onions gives your savory burgers a nice flavor contrast. Plus, who can resist that crunch?
  • Coleslaw. Crisp cabbage and carrots are coated in a creamy, tangy dressing. Its a light, cold, and refreshing treat that tastes amazing with burgers!

The Pwwb House Burger French Onion Soup Burgers

These rich, flavor-filled burgers take me right back to the summers of my childhood. Growing up, French onion burgers were on the dinner menu at least once a week. Maybe it was because my dad & older brother loved them so much, or maybe it was because Mom loved how easy they were to throw together.

These burgers are made with 3 simple, smart ingredients , the star being a good ol packet of onion soup mix.

Y-E-S, you heard me right! Its admittedly a little retro but I dont even care because these onion soup mix burgers are so freakin good. They have a ton of rich French onion flavor with hardly any effort involved!

You can leave em simple & serve em up plain Jane theyre flavorful enough to stand on their own like that, I promise OR you can doll em up with some over-the-top toppings: fancy cheese, bacon, a pile of easy caramelized onions, you name it!

No matter which route you go, though, you have to serve your French onion burger on a St Pierre Brioche Burger Bun. Ive been completely obsessed with brioche buns for the past few summers. They have a pillowy soft light & fluffy texture, with amazing rich, buttery flavor such an easy everyday indulgence. St Pierre brioche is made in France with high-quality ingredients & Im so thrilled to be partnering with them for the rest of the summer. You can find St Pierre Brioche Burger Buns in the bakery & deli section in grocery stores nationwide!

The burgers themselves are just super easy to make. I usually make burgers about four to a pound, about 4 ounces each but for these I wanted to go big, primarily because I wanted to use the onion buns and those are pretty huge. So I made each burger about six ounces and used about a tablespoon and a half of the Liptons Onion Soup Mix per burger. That would be about a packet for 24 ounces if youre buying your Liptons Onion Soup instead ofmixing it up in bulk like I do at my house. Its really not that particular if you use a little more or less because theres so much else going on with these burgers.

The star of the show, here, is really the caramelized onions tossed on top. Now its not that big of a deal to make just a few caramelized onions, but if youre going to be doing these burgers for a crowd and want to make a big batch of them, check out my post with links to Three Ways to Caramelize Onions. For this recipe, though, I have an easy shortcut method that just takes minutes for a small amount of onions but will give you truly really caramelized onions, tender, silky and juicy.

Making these burgers was extremely simple as it just included adding a little water with the soup packet. The taste? They were delicious!

My husband was just as impressed as I was. We topped ours with additional onions and lettuce then drizzled BBQ Sauce on top!

These burgers are the perfect combination of flavors with very little work on your part. We used a fun burger pan for the grill too.

These are pretty fabulous because they keep the burgers together instead of the dreaded falling apart midway through cooking.

Thats always a pain, isnt it?

Are you ready for these burgers?

French Onion Grilled Chicken Burgers are made with lots of grilled onions and a cream cheese topping made with onion soup mix. Everyone needs a simple trick up their sleeve and resorting to onion soup mix is mine.

And if you have too much topping, it easily becomes a dip for potato chips! Just sayin!

I love the fact that just onions and an onion topping can replace ketchup, mustard, onion and pickle. Onions are essential in my kitchen and I always have them in my pantry or fridge.

Im not a meat eater, but I cant go without burgers. In fact years ago when I gave up meat, not eating burgers was what I missed most. Chicken breasts are great, but just dont compare to a ground meat burger. And I dont care what anyone says but turkey burgers just dont cut it for me.

It took me a long time to perfect the art of grilling ground chicken burgers. If youve ever tried it you will know that chicken meat doesnt come together the same way as ground beef. Once you season your chicken it is like throwing a ball of mush on the grill and Ive even had to pry up the grill grates when the ground chicken slides beneath them.

Maybe you have some folks coming over who arent red meat eaters and maybe you just want a changebut whatever the reason check the French Onion Grilled Chicken burgers out!

Saving Money On French Onion Soup Burgers:

Anytime youre talking big burgers and specialty buns, youre really getting out of the realm of a truly budget dinner, so burgers like the French Onion Soup Burgers could be considered a bit of a splurge. Theres no better time to splurge on burgers than around a Summer Holiday, though, when ground beef is very likely to be at an absolute low and you can bet burgers at home like this are a fraction of the cost of a restaurant burger! I figured the cost of four burgers and buns as shown ran about $5.79, total, for the four, not for each burger.

Labor Day is coming up and its the last of the Big Three Summer Holidays Memorial Day and the Fourth of July are the others. Youll really want to take a look at all the specials and stock up. Ive written this post to help you out. Many of the items youll see on sale wont be at a low again until next summer. If you like burgers, ribs, etc., pick them up now and toss them in your freezer. At the very least, stock up on condiments. Theres gonna be a Hail Mary for ground beef and condiments around the Super Bowl, too, with some fabulous but maybe not rock bottom pricing.

Wondering How To Make Your Burgers Taste Better Here Are A Few Tips & Tricks

Because this homemade beef burger recipe is so simple, in both its ingredients & its preparation, technique is incredibly important.

Here are 5 of my favorite easy tips & tricks for restaurant-quality burgers at home:

  • Fat content matters! While some swear by using 80% lean ground beef, I much prefer keeping things slightly leaner with 85% lean ground beef. I find 85% lean to be much easier to handle & much easier to avoid flare-ups on the grill. Be sure to buy your burger meat straight from the butcher to ensure its as fresh as possible.
  • Do NOT overmix the burgers. Overmixing the French onion burger mixture will yield dry & tough burger patties. No one wants that! Mix the burgers just until all the ingredients are combined. Its okay if theyre a little rustic!
  • Size matters. We love our burgers juicy & thick, so I always opt for a 1/3-pound patty with 1-inch thickness. Be sure to press your burger patties out so theyre slightly larger than the size of your brioche burger bun. The burgers contract a little as they cook.
  • Indent the center of the burger patties. Just before you place the onion soup mix burgers on the grill, use your thumb to press an indent into the center of each patty. Burgers puff up quite a bit as they cook. A small indent helps them cook more evenly.
