There’s also bubbie’s chicken soup , a clear broth to which you can add noodle and fluffy matzoh balls the size of a baseball. On the side are whipped sweet potatoes, the secret recipe of owner Brad Rubin’s mom, Roz, who adds a tiny pinch of citrus and sweet matzoh kugel with green granny smith apples, raisins, and brown sugar. Carnegie Deli And The Matzo Project Just Launched A Matzo Ball Soup Kit

There’s a chill in the air, leaves on the ground and jackets on bodies.

We’re in the thick of fall, friends, which means winter’s just around the corner and we’re charging hard into soup season.

Yes, soup. That glorious hug in a bowl that warms you up, alleviates life’s troubles and lets you employ that 42-quart pot stashed in the back of your pantry a few times each year.

Adding to your soup arsenal is the new Better Than Bubbes Matzo Ball Soup Kit from Carnegie Deli and The Matzo Project. It’s available now and ready to ship itself to your home.

Over the decades, New York’s Carnegie Deli has plied countless diners with pastrami sandwiches, corned beef, potato knish and other delights. But, as we established, this is soup season. So they teamed up with The Matzo Project to bring you one of the world’s finest comfort foods.

The kit includes eight servings of flavorful broth that’s been simmered with chicken, carrots and celery. Matzo Project’s all-natural, Brooklyn-made matzo crumbs are combined with eggs, water and oil to make the matzo balls that will fortify your soup. And there’s also four bags of crunchy sea-salt matzo chips to serve on the side.

Is this kit really better than your grandma’s soup? Hard to say. We don’t know your grandma. But we do know you should probably avoid telling her the name of this thing.

Either way, the kit has everything you need to feed a hungry army or to fight off a cold.

And none of the questions about your personal life.

I completely failed to follow my own rule and order what they are known for. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a pumpernickel bagel- which was good. Bagel was nice and big and chewy. I veered off and ordered a matzoballsoup- worst decision ever. It unfortunately was- awful. I LOVE matzoballsoup- and the key is a well balanced chicken broth – with some deliciously light matzoballs- and maybe some noodles. This one – the balls were dense , the broth was insipid at best- and the giant noodles made the broth gooey. Unfortunate :(.Gosh and I waited a good 15 minutes in line…I thought the staff was nice. When you are working in a very busy shop – sometimes directness can be thought to be rude.

Siblings David Poritzky And Betsy Maselek Are The Brains Behind Grandmaschickensoupcom An Online Company That Will Ship Your Loved One A Batch Of Homemade Chicken Soup And If Desired An Attractively

Susan JacobsJewish Journal Staff

WOBURN â Thanks to a North Shore brother/sister team of entrepreneurs, people from Maine to Minnesota can now order homemade chicken soup online. The “Jewish penicillinâ is shipped frozen in special packaging that keeps it chilled for up to four days without dry ice.

GrandmasChickenSoup.com is the brainchild of siblings David Poritzky of Boxford, and Betsy Maselek of Marblehead. The cooking is handled by David, 34, a chef, caterer and owner of Davidâs World Famous, a Woburn restaurant located in a corporate office park, that features fresh sandwiches and soups. His older sister, Betsy, 40, controls the sales and marketing.

“We have been eating our bubbyâs original chicken soup recipe for our whole lives, and have been selling her chicken soup for years. After doing extensive research, I discovered that the only type of soup you could order online and have delivered is Legal Seafoodâs chowder. There is no one shipping homemade chicken soup. David and I have always wanted to do an Internet business together. We already had the product â this seemed like a natural offshoot,â explains Betsy.

With the click of a mouse, customers can order a half-gallon container of the tasty comfort food, made in traditional fashion with matzo balls and/or elbow noodles, for $29.50 plus shipping, which varies depending upon which state it is sent to. At this point, they are not shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or overseas.
