Layoffs For Dhl At Limas P& g
LIMA A total of 229 workers at the DHL Supply Chain in Lima will be laid off by March 12 as a result of its customer, Procter & Gamble, deciding to transition providers, according to DHL spokeswoman Lynn Anderson.
DHL, located at the Lima Procter and Gamble Plant, 635 N. Cool Road, issued a WARN notice to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on Jan. 9.
Several DHL administrative assistants, operators, managers, supervisors and security members who worked in the plants distribution warehouse will be laid off as a result of the transition.
FedEx Supply Chain will become the new third-party logistics provider at the plant. Approximately 75 of DHL employees will be transitioning over to the new company, according to Anderson.
They would be working in the same place and doing very similar work, but their employer would just change to the new provider, said Anderson.
Jeff LeRoy, a Cincinnati Procter and Gamble spokesperson, said that Fed Ex is willing to hire on 100 percent of the DHL employees as long as they pass the normal criteria.
As of now, 107 DHL employees will be relocated to other DHL supply operations in the area, such as the new site that is opening for Campbell Soup in Findlay as well as various other sites in Leipsic, Dayton and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Anderson acknowledged that, although P& G decided to transition providers, the company understands and looks forward to working with them in the future.

Campbell Soup Building $44m Distribution Center In Ohio
Campbell Soup Company and DHL Supply Chain held a ground-breaking ceremony in Findlay, OH on Tuesday to mark the beginning of construction on a 700,000-sq-ft distribution center there that will serve e-commerce customers.
Upon completion next Spring, the $44 million facility will be operated by DHL Supply Chain and employ some 220 workers.
Campbell Soup said the sites location near some of the companys existing factories and the CSX North Baltimore freight railyard were factors in the decision to build the distribution center in Findlay.
Because of the transportation lanes available here, we can distribute nationwide via truck or rail right from here, Campbell Soup Company Vice President of Supply Chain Mark Cacciatore told the Findlay Courier.
The distribution center will handle Campbells soups, Swanson brand broth and stock, Prego and Plum Organics canned products, Pace Foods, and V8 beverages from plants in Napoleon, OH, Maxton, NC, Paris, TX, and Toronto, Canada, according to the Couriers report.
Campbells site will also help the firm test e-commerce fulfillment processes.

Dhl And Campbell Soup To Bring 140
A new partnership between DHL Supply Chain and Campell Soup Company will bring a $40 million distribution facility to Cumberland County that will create up to 140 new jobs.
Contract logistics company DHL Supply Chain, Deutsche Post DHL Group, is working with Campbell to develop a distribution network of four centers across the country. Campbell plans to construct the 627,000 square-foot Cumberland County distribution facility with the capacity to expand an additional 50 percent. In addition to the 140 full-time jobs, DHL expects to create 55 part-time jobs to operate the center.

Dhl To Run New $44 Million Campbell Soup Logistics Hub
The Campbell Soup Co. broke ground Aug. 8 on a $44 million distribution center in Hancock County, Ohio, that officials said will serve as the companys future Midwest distribution hub.
Officials with Camden, N.J.-based Campbell said they expect to employ 220 people at the hub when it opens early next year. The 740,000-square-foot facility will be operated by transportation and logistics firm DHL Supply Chain.
Were moving to a model that a lot of consumer product companies use, which is basically to ship products from our manufacturing sites to distribution centers with access to good ground transportation and rail, said Mark Cacciatore, vice president of supply chain for Campbell.
Campbell already contracts with DHL at a similar distribution center in Southern California and recently opened a second DHL-managed facility in the Fort Worth area. The Findlay facility will be its third Cacciatore said the company also is actively looking to add a fourth distribution center in the Southeast.
The new distribution center just north of Findlay will be Campbells third facility in northwest Ohio.
The company operates a soup and juice factory in Napoleon and a plant that makes crackers and cookies for its Pepperidge Farm brand in Willard, Ohio, which is about 65 miles southeast of Toledo. Together those two sites employ more than 2,000 people.
