On the one hand, the chowder at the NEW ENGLAND SOUP FACTORY was rich and delicious. On the other, it was so scalding hot that it seared my mouth like a hot iron. Totally worth it.

The owner of the shop is very friendly and knowledgeable. He’ll let you try all the soups before you go and buy. We tried at least 5 of them before settling on the clam chowder and the lobster soup. The clam chowder was creamy and with the 16 ox he gives you two huge rolls of delicious rustic bread. Seriously be generous eith the dipping you get a lot of bread. If your in salem give them a try.

This place is great. They let you sample the soup before committing if you are torn between a few different options. I got the chicken pot pie soup. It was amazing and perfect for the rainy day. They also have hot or cold style soups, sandwiches and wraps. I would deff go back!

New England Soup Factory, Salem MA. Excellent homemade soup. Not a chain. Authentic. Greek Lemony lentil soup is the best I’ve had. Spicy African flavors, naturally gluten free. Highly recommend for a light healthy lunch in posh area of Salem. Owner operated.

If you love soup, you’ll enjoy this place. We have gotten soup to go several times. The soups change daily, and we’ve always enjoyed the ones we’ve tried. Not much seating, and not too much other than soups and sandwiches.

The food is amazing!! the only downside is that there is very little seating.
If youre looking for a quick pick-me-up in between museums and tours, you can’t go wrong here. Every soup is homemade with fresh ingredients, and the sandwiches pair nicely. Service is quick, making it the perfect place for a fast lunch.If you fall in love with the soups, get a copy of the cookbook – the recipes are easy to follow and taste just like what they sell in the store

So difficult to choose from their excellent selection of fresh soups and salads. You can even have free samples of any soup to help you make up your mind. Great place on a chilly day after walking around all over downtown Salem sightseeing. Good selection for vegetarians too.

This is the place I go to for lunch when I am working in Salem. They carry at least 5 different soups daily; and the selections change daily. They let you try as many samples as you want before you decide. Even the soups they carry regularly like the chicken noodle and clam chowder have a unique and different take…

This is another place we always visit while in Salem. The menu has changed a bit and there was only one vegetarian option which was disappointing, but as always the soup was delicious. Nice for a quick lunch!

Extremely nice, accommodating staff. The soup was a good, quick, inexpensive meal. The clam chowder was not the best Ive ever had but it was good. The lobster soup was great!
My four teenage sons loved their soups. They also offer chili, a lobster soup, etc. We ate here after a tour of the Witch House a block away or so. Super friendly staff. Fast service. Great prices.
Soup and sandwiches were delicious. Its just off Essex st so it wasnt that crowded. We sat outside because of Covid. Soup was delicious and sandwiches were fresh. Perfectly hit the spot.

Frankly speaking, we came to this place for public restroom. But the staff was really nice and gave us sample soups. We ended up buying Porcini mushroom soup and we loved it!
