    • Make sure you have all of your ingredients chopped and measured out beforehand. This is a basic cooking must-do, but one that I must remind myself to do on a consistent basis!
    • Every cooktop and range is different. If you feel like something may overcook or not cook enough, feel free to change the heat settings or the timing of something and check for the doneness of the ingredients instead. This is especially important in soup.
    • Add extra broth or water when the consistency of the soup is too thick for your liking. I like to keep extra water around because I tend to find some soups too salty and strong, so adding some water is a go-to strategy for me. Much of this is personal preference, so taste your soup often to make sure you like it. On the other hand, if you would like to thicken your soup, make a quick slurry by whisking together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of liquid and then whisking into the soup.
    • I use a mandoline for slicing the potatoes. It takes about one minute to have them all perfectly and uniformly sliced.

I add a bit of crushed red pepper flakes to the soup as well as a bit of salt and pepper. Totally optional. The soup already has a lot of salt from the bacon and heat from the spicy Italian sausage so feel free to omit if youd like.

The Calamari Won Us Over Because It Was Cooked Perfectly And Came With A Tasty Dipping Sauce

    Price: $11.99 per order

I also ordered the calamari as part of my Create a Sampler Italiano platter, and it was served with a sprinkle of herbs of top and a generous portion of the spicy ranch for dipping.

I thought the calamari was perfectly deep-fried the bits tasted tender without being rubbery, which was a huge plus in my book.

I’m not exactly sure what’s in the breading, but I loved that it tasted pretty light. It made the deep-fried dish taste more delicate and sophisticated instead of heavy.

At $11.99 this appetizer was pricier than most of the other offerings so I’m not sure it’s worth that much unless you’re a big fan of calamari and you don’t want an appetizer that’s too heavy.

Which Soup Is The Best Soup At The Olive Garden

The folks at Chowhound ranked the Olive Garden Soups. I think it depends on what type of soup you personally enjoy the most. If you like a soup with a beef base, I would have to recommend the Pasta E Fagioli as it is a hearty soup that is packed full of beans, beef, and so much more, all in every single bite.

If you want a soup that is light, the Minestrone this is the soup that I would choose.

The real difficult choice comes between the Chicken & Gnocchi soup and the Zuppa Toscana. Both are cream-based soups. The Chicken & Gnocchi is a creamy based soup filled with chicken and soft tender gnocchi.

While the Zuppa Toscana has Italian sausage, potatoes, and fresh potatoes. I would love to easily tell you which soup is best, but the choice is oh so difficult to make.

    What Is Zuppa Toscana

So, zuppa means soup in Italian. Toscana refers to the Tuscany region of Italy. Therefore, Zuppa Toscana translates to Tuscan soup or Tuscan-style soup. Traditionally, this soup is made with lots of veggies, beans, potatoes, olive oil, spices, Italian bacon, and Tuscan bread .

The American version though adds Italian sausage and bacon, garlic, and heavy cream in addition to the potatoes and kale. While the American version might be a little on the heavier side, this soup eats like a meal, believe me!

What Kind Of Chicken Do I Use For Olive Garden Gnocchi Soup

THE OLIVE GARDEN | Minestrone Soup

When it comes to cooked chicken in recipes, everyone seems to have their favorite method. For most of my casserole and soup recipes I roast mine in the oven and then shred. I will also boil it with carrot, celery and onion so I make a homemade stock at the same time. Roasting a chicken for Sunday supper and using the leftovers later in the week is a great way to get double duty out of one bird. Save some time and use a prepared rotisserie chicken from the grocery store deli. For this recipe, I decided to save time and money and use canned all white meat chicken. For some recipes this convenience product would not be my choice, but I have found for soups it works really well, and is a major bargain considering the cost of fresh chicken lately. I simply place the chicken in a colander, break the large pieces up with a fork and allow it to drain well. To make sure I still had lots of flavor, I used a homemade chicken stock from the freezer instead of store bought broth.

    • All-purpose flour: The flour makes a roux which gives the soup its consistency.

How To Make Olive Garden Soup

    1. First, cook the bacon until its super crispy. Drain the grease and set it aside. Brown the Italian sausage in the same pan. Keep the sausage grease though!

    4. Next, cover everything with the chicken broth, which should at least submerge all the potatoes. You can always add a couple extra cups of water if you need a little more liquid. Mix it all up and cover to cook. I prefer to cook this on low, but you can also use high if youre on a time crunch.

    5. Once the potatoes are fork tender and its been a few hours, add the kale and heavy cream to the Crockpot. Stir everything together and let it cook a little longer on high to warm everything through. Dont cook it too long though, or the cream will curdle.

I hope you saved some bacon for a crunchy garnish! I also like to add a little Parmesan shredded Parmesan cheese to the bowls because who doesnt love cheese?

The Spicy Version Of The Shrimp Scampi Fritta Had A Kick To It But We Preferred The Regular One

    Price: $11.79 per full order

Olive Garden offers two styles of shrimp scampi fritta appetizer , so we ordered half of each flavor in a single order.

The spicy shrimp pieces were lightly breaded and coated with a cherry-pepper sauce and they were served with a side of spicy ranch.

The crispiness of the breading was great, but the sauce wasn’t our favorite. Sure, it had a subtle kick to it, but the cherry flavor cut through more than we would have liked.

That said, the spicy-ranch dip is one of the most delicious, well-balanced, restaurant ranch dressings I’ve ever tasted.
