    • Peel and cube potatoes and set into a pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook them until a fork slides in the potatoes easily.
    • Add the 3 cans of soup and drained can of corn to the meat. Set over med to med/high heat and stir occasionally until the juices thicken extra thick.
    • Remove and drain the potatoes when they are ready. Add the butter and milk. Mash to remove any potato chunks and use your hand mixer to mix well while salting to your taste.

    2 pounds scrubbed Yukon gold potatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes
    1 carton CAMPBELL’S® 30% Less Sodium Ready to Use Chicken Broth
    3 green onions, finely chopped, light and dark green parts divided
    ½ tablespoon salt
    1 ½ pounds lean ground chicken
    2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
    2 cups frozen peas and carrots
    ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese


    • Cook potatoes in saucepan of boiling water for 15 minutes, or until tender. Drain and mash with 2/3 cup of the broth, green parts of onions, and salt. Keep warm.
    • While the potatoes boil, cook chicken in ovenproof skillet over high heat, breaking up with spoon until no longer pink, about 6 minutes.
    • Add butter, mushrooms, light parts of onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and poultry seasoning to skillet cook, stirring for 5 minutes, or until tender. Sprinkle in flour cook for 1 minute.
    • Gradually stir remaining broth into pan stir in peas and carrots. Bring to a boil reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring often, for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
    • Preheat broiler.
    • Spoon potatoes over chicken mixture sprinkle with cheese. Broil until cheese is melted, about 4 minutes.

The old recipe was added way back in 2011 and wasnt a very authentic recipe. So we decided to create a new recipe for Shepherds pie.

    How to make shepherds pie. Cook on skillet. Add ground beef and chopped onions to a large skillet and cook over medium heat until the meat has browned. Drain any excess grease, then stir in the creole, tomato soup and green beans. Cook for an additional 5 minutes. Assemble.

    Heat the oil in an 11-inch saute pan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the onion and carrots and saute just until they begin to take on color, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the garlic and stir to combine. Add the meat, salt and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through, approximately 3 minutes.

    Cook meat in large oven-proof skillet until browned drain. Stir in 1 cup French Fried Onions, soup, water and Italian seasoning. Spoon vegetables over beef mixture. Top with mashed potatoes. BAKE 20 min. or until hot. Sprinkle with remaining French Fried Onions. Bake 2 min. until golden.

To be honest, I do not know if it was my mom or dad who brought the recipe into the family, but rest assure, we ate this meal a lot! And while it is my siblings favourite, I had not gotten around to making it until my dads birthday last month This was also the first time my husband had the chance to try it and he really enjoyed it. He marveled at the simplicity so I knew I had to make it again

    If you have mashed potatoes on hand, this recipe would be considered 4-ingredients! But if not, dont stress, as putting this recipe together takes little effort and yields a lot! And there are some vegetables hidden in there from the soup so your kids get their nutrients

    Considering I love to gourmet up my meals, as seen with my smashed potatoes shepherds pie, this was a nice change. I used ground turkey here but ground beef is what we used in our childhood Beef is just so expensive here right now, and ground turkey is known to be healthier. Whatever you choose, you will be rewarded by this shepherds pie with Campbells soup!

    I usually only eat Shepherd’s Pie when it’s on the menu at a restaurant, but this version is so quick and easy that I could make it at home. This is comfort food, and would definitely be welcome on the dinner table. When making this, I would use lean ground beef and Healthy Request cream of mushroom soup. Instead of using mashed potato flakes, I would make my own mashed potatoes.

    Oh my word does this look delicious! Nothing screams comfort food like Shepherd’s Pie. This recipe sound very similar to the one I grew up eating. I’m wondering if you could substitute any kind of cream soup instead of cream of mushroom? I’m just not the biggest fan of mushrooms. Maybe a cream of cheddar? Something I like to do with my Shepherd’s Pie is to sprinkle a tiny bit of parmesan cheese on top of the potatoes. It gives the toppings a little bit of crunch. So good.

    Growing up on a military base, my mother had to stretch the groceries and make inexpensive and easy meals. This is one of those dishes and to this day, I make it and not only is it a great meal for busy families, its very comforting… Enjoy!

    2 can campbell alphabet vegetable soup


    • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown ground beef in sauce pan and drain. Make mashed potatoes on the side. You can use either instant potatoes or homemade mash potatoes, giving your time constraints. Make sure to use butter or butter substitute in the potatoes for best flavor.
    • 2. Open both cans of condensed Campbells Alphabet Vegetable soup. Add both cans to meat and mix well. DO NOT DILUTE. Take a 13×9 baking dish and lay meat mixture in the bottom of it.
    • 3. Next, take mashed potatoes and ice the top of the meat mixture. Once meat is covered sprinkle cheddar cheese on top of potatoes. Put dish on oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted. YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE A BIG HIT!

    Add in the Campbell’s Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme, and cook for several minutes, stirring regularly. Add additional milk if necessary. Add the frozen vegetables and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring as they cook.
