The Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter is open every day of the year. Volunteers are needed all year round for us to succeed at what we do.
We depend on the generosity of volunteers to meet the daily needs of our clients. We welcome and appreciate the hours you have to donate. Individuals and groups can volunteer in many capacities throughout the year. Volunteer opportunities will be matched to your interest area and availability. You may volunteer as many or as few times a year as you would like.

What has been your organization’s biggest achievement in the past year?
During the past year, with COVID rampant and people staying home, the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter has been able to expand services to meet the needs of our community.
We are currently picking up orders 3 times a week from New Hampshire Food Bank. We were going only once a week. Our produce orders are 150% more than before COVID-19.
We have added 8 mobile pantries to try and bring fresh produce to those who cant come to us. From January-December 2020, we distributed more than 155 tons of food through our Food Pantry and these mobile sites around our city. We are grateful to the Nashua YMCA for picking up the produce at our Soup Kitchen and bringing it to the designated sites. We thank the United Way of Greater Nashua for coordinating volunteers at each site to distribute items during this pandemic to those in need.
And we are humbled by our staff, who keep coming in every day to provide food and shelter to vulnerable individuals and families in the Greater Nashua Region in a dignified and sustainable manner.

Raise Money For The Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter
The Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter advocates, creates, and operates programs and services that promote dignity and self-sufficiency for those we serve. To ensure that basic needs are addressed, NSKS is committed to joining with others in a community-wide ethic of caring.
Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter is a private, non-profit organization providing food, emergency shelter, housing, and advocacy to poor and homeless men, women, and families with children in our community.
We dream that one day everyone who works will have a living wage that medical care, alcohol and substance abuse counseling, and mental health services will be available to all our community will have enough affordable housing so that no one is homeless that fewer folks will need our services every year instead of more. In the meantime, we count on community support so we can continue to help those in need.

Rent and Fuel Assistance – We have a limited amount of funds available for rent assistance to prevent homelessness and to help prevent utilities or heat from being turned off. Funds given are considered a loan, which can be repaid over time.Transitional Housing – Three apartments allow families to pay minimal rent for up to two years while they transition from homelessness back into the community.
Permanent Affordable Housing– the NSK& S owns a nine unit apartment building in downtown Nashua. Apartments are rented below market rate to low-income individuals and families with children. Families who are homeless are given priority.
