- It works!! Its not science. Cut your calories, unhealthy sugar, starches, for a period of time while drinking lots of water and youll lose weight quickly.
- Its quick!! By the morning of my 8th day, the scale is always 7-10 lbs lighter. My clothes fit differently, and my usually bloated gut is flat. I love it!!!
- I cheat!! Ive discovered that I can cheat a bit on this diet. Ive snuck a muffin in a few times. BEST. MUFFIN.EVER!! Ive also used some condiments to spice things up.
- Great for pre-diets! This diet is GREAT for the start of a real diet/eating plan. You know, one where you eat a variety of healthy foods and a decent balance of calories. Sometimes you just need a jumpstart, a cleanse, a boost of confidence on the scale. This diet does it!

I know some people HATE these types of quick diets, but I love them! They work well for me, and the weight stays off as long as I eat a balanced post-diet. If you jump back to eating harmful sugars and carbs right away, youre going to gain the weight back quickly.
Pace yourself. I mainly use this diet for quick weight loss for an event, the week before Thanksgiving, or jump-start my spring dieting before swimsuit season.

However, all being said, it’s important to remember this very well that salads and soups are only part of a balanced diet and not a complete meal in itself. Therefore, attempting to try out a diet that only boasts of depending on soups and salads can not just devoid you of other nutrients you may need to lose weight, but also make you more prone to experiencing deficiencies. Remember, soups and salads alone do not make a healthy choice. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a non-vegetarian, you need a balanced intake of all food groups to lose weight in a holistic manner. Relying on just one form of nutrition won’t help you lose weight well, or even if it does, the results may not be beneficial in the long run.
Some nutritionists also opine that while soups and salads make for a lighter meal and are low on carbs, they may not be the most helpful choice at all times. The body needs nutrients to keep moving, and depending on the lifestyle you lead, higher carb consumption may be required. For the same reason, having soups and salads as your last meal of the day is preferable, instead of having them for breakfast or lunch.

Whether you are wanting to be on the cabbage soup diet to jump-start weight loss or if you are just hungry for easy vegetable soup, you are in luck. There are always ways to adjust and change my recipes! I never want you to get bored. Some of these ideas fit the cabbage soup diet, and some are to add in extra flavors. Try some of these ideas:
- Chicken broth Replace the beef broth with some chicken broth if thats what you prefer. It will taste wonderful either way.
- Chicken If you arent trying to eat a soup diet for weight loss, add in some diced chicken for some protein.
- Turkey Use ground turkey for some extra heartiness to this cabbage soup.
- Celery Its a non-starchy vegetable that will be a great addition to the vegetable soup with cabbage. Plus, its inexpensive too!
- Mushrooms Oh yummy mushrooms! They make everything, especially this homemade vegetable soup recipe taste better.
- Cauliflower The flavor of cauliflower pairs amazing with this cabbage soup. Additionally, it makes the soup even more filling.
Sacred Heart Soup Diet
Similar to the cabbage soup diet, the Sacred Heart soup diet is a 7-day eating plan that consists almost entirely of a broth-based soup with non-starchy vegetables.
While other low calorie foods are allowed, the diet is very specific as to which foods can be included each day.
When followed closely, the Sacred Heart soup diet claims to help you lose 1017 pounds in 1 week.
There are several types of soup diets. While some are more restrictive in what you can eat, like the cabbage soup diet, others allow for more flexibility, like the bean soup diet.
And the fewer calories you eat on a soup diet, generally the more weight youll lose.

- Grilled Chicken I love to eat a bowl of soup with a piece of protein-packed chicken. Its good for you and will help keep you full even longer.
- Salad Pretty much everything goes with salad, even soup! Thats why so many restaurants serve soup and salad together because they are the perfect match!
- Sandwiches Any kind of sandwich you like, would go great with weight loss soup. I especially love grilled cheese or a roasted turkey sandwich.

High sodium: The main drawback of commercially prepared soups is high-sodium content. Fortunately, many soup companies have reduced the salt in their products or offer reduced-sodium versions.
Solution: Check the label for words that indicate lower sodium: “light,” “reduced sodium,” or “low sodium.” Add extra fresh or frozen veggies to dilute the sodium content.
