- Transfer leftover cooked meatloaf to a shallow covered container within 2 hours. Refrigerate the leftovers for up to 4 days. Reheat leftover meatloaf in the oven or microwave until it reaches 165 F, the minimum safe temperature for leftover cooked food.
- If you don’t plan to use the leftovers within a few days, it may be frozen. Freeze cooked, cooled meatloaf in airtight containers or zip-close bags for up to 3 months.

Throwback from the 80s! All you need is French Onion Soup mix, sour cream and mayonnaise to make this utterly addictive French Onion Dip that is way better than store bought dip. This is the ONLY recipe I make using a store bought packet mix a testament to how good it is!
I really dont think Im a food snob hey, Im that person who has confessed to doing the KFC and Maccers drive through of shame. But I was brought up with food made from scratch and my mother ended up doing a great job of brain washing me because I never use store bought packet mixes or recipe bases. It just doesnt taste right to me, it has an edge of artificial-ness, and usually they are too salty.
This French Onion Dip is the one exception to my rule.
Its made using French Onion Soup mix. And I love it. I dont care what anyone says. And I bet my mum would love this too!
Even though it starts with a packet soup mix, this is still way better than French Onion Dip bought in a tub. For one thing, its really soft French Onion Dip sold in tubs are usually quick thick unless left out to soften. And it tastes less artificial than store bought dip. I think the sour cream goes a long way to add an element of freshness to this dip.

How To Make French Onion Soup
To begin, in a large Dutch oven or soup pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the oil, onions, salt, pepper, and sugar.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are deep golden brown and caramelized, 45 to 55 minutes.
In the beginning, you will only need to stir the onions only occasionally. As they start to brown midway through cooking, youll need to stir them more frequently. Also be sure to scrape the fond from the bottom of the pan.
Add the wine and raise the heat to high.
Cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to scrape any fond from the bottom of the pan, until almost all of the liquid has evaporated and the onions are jammy, 8 to 10 minutes.
Add the flour.
Cook for about one minute to dissolve the flour.
Add the broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and bay leaves to the pot.
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook, covered, for about 30 minutes. Add the sherry, then taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. If the soup needs a deeper flavor, try a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce. If its not quite sweet enough, add 1/4 teaspoon sugar.
While the soup simmers, preheat the oven to 400°F and set an oven rack in the middle position. Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Bake until the bread is dry, crisp, and golden at edges, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
Sprinkle evenly with Gruyère and then Parmigiano Reggiano.
Slide the crocks into the oven and broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly around edges, 3 to 5 minutes.

This is a sour cream and onion dip using French onion soup mix. While you can use a store-bought packet, I highly recommend using a homemade mix. Its easy to make and keep on hand for recipes like this and usually more flavorful than a packet from the store.
The Worcestershire sauce is the secret ingredient in this French Onion Dip recipe. While I know of people who will whip this up using only the French onion soup mix and sour cream, I find that to be a little boring and by just adding a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. So much extra flavor is added.
This party dip literally takes 3 minutes to prepare its THAT easy! Just remember to prepare it a few hours before party time as it should refrigerate for 2-3 hours. If youre short on time, its also a great dip to put together the night before.
Kettle cooked potato chips are my go-to for party dips like this one because I love the crunch and subtle flavor but of course you can serve this French onion dip with your favorite chip.

What Is The Secret To A Moist Meatloaf

Homemade Delicious And Tested
So I set out to find a recipe that tastes like the packet kind but where I could control the sodium. And for that, I had to find sodium-free beef bouillion cubes or granules. I easily found it at Walmart. So I whipped this up and then tested it in a couple of recipes. And I gotta say, not only did it taste amazing, it worked seamlessly and I couldn’t even tell the difference between the two. It might’ve actually been a tad bit better.

Does Lipton Soup Mix Contain Msg
When you read a label looking for MSG you might be able to find it that easily, but it doesnt mean that its not in there. There is a whole list of ingredients out there that have MSG in them but have different names on the labels. Its kinda confusing so I added a link for you to check out that breaks down the different fancy names for MSG.
But yes, according to the label ingredients for the Lipton soup mix, it contains Disodium Guanylate and Disodium Inosinate which are 2 of the fancy names for MSG.
Finish With A Splash Of Sherry
Many recipes include brandy in the cooking process or to finish the soup. We tried adding a touch to our brew, but it was a little too sweet. So we took a tip from Mixed Onion Soup in Sourdough Bread Bowls and tried finishing our bowls with a splash of dry sherry. The sherry complements the nuttiness of the Gruyère beautifully and adds a bright finish to the soup, yet the raw alcohol flavor gets mellowed by the warm broth. All in all, it’s the perfect finishing touch.

How To Make Baked Chicken With French Onion Soup Mix: Preheat Oven To 350f
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the thawed, fresh chicken breast in a bowl.
Pour in the olive oil and the package of French onion soup. Mix thoroughly.
In a 9×13 casserole dish, place the chicken breast in the center.
Toss the green beans gently with the remaining olive oil mixture.
Then, around the chicken breast, arrange green beans.
Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 30 minutes.
Sometimes youre simply weary at the end of the day and need to put something together quickly so you can go out the door. This, therefore, is your response. However, just because you need something fast doesnt mean you have to forego nutrition or flavor. This meal is jam-packed with both and comes together quickly. This baked chicken is now on our monthly menu, which is certainly a good thing!
*We used Trader Joes frozen green beans for this recipe. Fresh green beans would add even more richness to this meal, but frozen green beans work just as well and absorb up the flavors of the delicious French onion soup mix.
