It was October of 2007 when I received the dreaded call that my mother had been diagnosed with lung cancer. Of course, like anyone, I was shocked, scared and panicked. The hardest part about hearing the news is that she was living thousands of miles away at the time. I felt helpless being so far away. I needed to do something. So I jumped online, and there were tons of options for flowers, candy and fruit. But nothing felt appropriate for this situation. I wanted to show her how much I cared, and in some way comfort her. I immediately thought of chicken soup. Its what she, like many mothers, used to make to comfort me. But I couldnt find any to send. I lost her just six weeks later. This is the cutest little care package, totally a ray of sunshine for sure in this package. Comes with 2 handle cup mugs, jar of lemonade and strawberry chunks, and some very cute straws. The straws can totally be used more than a couple of times, the mugs are thick and sorta heavy, but are so adorable and perfect. The jar of lemonade powder/strawberry chunks, you just need a few spoonfuls and you have a very tasty drink. Its kinda sour and smooth. The box is cute, and the stuffing inside keeps everything well together through shipping. The powder lemonade stuff, you can easily get ten or so drinks with it, and the cups and straws can be re used forever. This is great for wedding party, summer party, camping, and so forth!
Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle
- 3 large carrots, peeled and sliced
- 3 celery, diced
- 1/2 white or yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 cans chicken stock
- 1 chicken bouillon
- 2/3 cup flour
- Pinch salt
Place chicken, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, basil, chicken stock and boullion into slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 6 hours, or on low for 7-8 hours.
In a small bowl, whisk eggs until well beaten, then slowly use a fork to work in flour until a soft, non-sticky dough is formed. Roll dough out very thin, use extra flour, if needed, to keep from sticking. For best results, roll between two pieces of parchment using a rolling pin. Remove top piece of parchment and use a knife or pizza cutter to cut dough into 1/4×1 noodles. Allow to airdry until soup is finished cooking.
Place noodles in slow cooker and stir well to mix. Cover, set to high, and allow to cook for 20 minutes before serving.

What Happened After Shark Tank
Spoonful of Comfort product owners, Marti Wymer and Scott Gustafson pitched her business on Shark Tank in 2016. Sought for an investment of $400,000 against 10% equity.
Post her pitch of the Spoonful of Comfort, there were areas that caused discomfort to Sharks. The duo had already invested 1.3 Million in the business earlier without results.
Sharks clearly picked areas that need attention and first was their customer acquisition cost was $18 for every transaction which was very high and had to be reduced. Secondly, their marketing needs a clear push to reach a price level to let their customers repeat business. Shipping was not free and took 3-4 days to deliver which was too late as the sick can get well before that.
In this case, it was a NO DEAL at Shark Tank for Spoonful of Comfort.
