How Do You Reheat Frozen Egg Noodles
A 20 minute baking time with temperatures starting at 350 Fahrenheit should be enough until heated through. In order to reheat the noodles in the microwave, spread them on a microwave-safe plate and stick them inside the microwave until you reach your desired temperature. To prevent the noodles from drying out, place a glass of water under the noodles after microwave heating.
Can I Use Chicken Broth For Soup Base
There is a very good reason for distinguishing between broth and stock. Stock is made from simmering bones, while broth is made by simmering meat. What gives stock its body is the fact that simmering bones slowly for a long time dissolves the cartilage at the joints of the bones and turns it into gelatin.
Simmering meat for that long only turns it stringy and overcooked. Youll extract flavor from it, but youll be ruining the meat itself.
So, stock is stock and broth is broth. For maximum flavor and body in your soup, you need the former.

What If I Can’t Find Reames Noodles
I am not sponsored by or affiliated with the company that produces the frozen Reames Egg Noodles that I use in this recipe. I just love them. They are thick, expand nicely when cooked, and are somehow both firm and soft at the same time. They are perfect soup noodles!
That said, you can use dry egg noodles or any type of pasta, but the time it takes for the noodles to be done may vary from what I’ve stated in the recipe. Make sure your soup is at a good strong simmer and keep an eye on your pasta until it reaches the texture you prefer.

Of course you can, thats the best part! First, let your soup completely cool then pour it into a zip-top plastic freezer bag. Lay the bag flat in the freezer and youre all set. Just about any soup can sit in the freezer for about two or three months.
Be sure to reheat your soup properly. I break down how to do that in my recipe for Carrot Ginger Soup.

What Type Of Noodles Work Best In Chicken Soup
As I ladled this steaming chicken noodle soup into bowls for my family, the first time making it on my own, our youngest daughters eyes lit up, big and bright. And I knew exactly what had triggered her reaction. She saw those homestyle egg noodles. They get her every time.
When Reames Foods asked me to create a recipe featuring their frozen homestyle egg noodles, a recipe that would bring families together around a warm meal, I didnt hesitate to say yes. Because homestyle egg noodles are what give my moms chicken noodle soup hearty goodness and an extra boost of homemade taste.
I especially like that these homestyle egg noodles take to leftover soup so well. Other kinds of noodles break down in the broth and turn to mush after a couple days stored in the refrigerator. But not these frozen noodles from Reames Foods. The noodles remain almost entirely unaffected in the broth, still thick, with that wonderful bit of chewy texture.
I believe that everyone should have a basic recipe for homemade chicken noodle soup in their recipe box. If you have your own recipe handed down from a friend or family member, you already know how much I adore that. But if you dont, or if youd just like to try something new, give this recipe a go. Make Ahead And Freezing Instructions:
To make ahead: This soup is best made ahead of time when you are using homemade egg noodles, since they dont get soggy and overcooked like regular store bought noodles. If you wanted to use regular noodles, I recommend making the broth first, and then boiling it with the noodles, and adding the chicken, the day of serving.
To store: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days, depending on the freshness of the chicken used.
To freeze: Allow the soup to cool completely and store it in a freezer safe container for 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, or over medium heat on the stove. If using store bought noodles I would suggest undercooking the noodles before freezing the soup, to avoid them getting soggy upon reheating.

Can You Add Uncooked Pasta To Soup
Salty and extremely soft noodles left over from simmering in soup can dissolve, making your soup too starchy when it fails to stabilize. A little too early with reheated noodles is an added uncooked version of the soup after yours has been simmering steadily and for a whole 10 minutes or cooking it separately and in time before adding.
