Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup
Its not often I share a soup recipe on my blog. The last was the Slow Cooker Chicken Potato Corn Chowder and before that was this popular Roasted Tomato Basil Soup and this Slow Cooker Lasagna Soup. Because the weather has been SO miserable and cold, going backwards instead of forwards, soup has been coming out of our ears.
This was the latest and BEST soup out of my kitchen. With creamy soups it is so easy to just throw in a bottle or three of heavy or thickened cream.
In comes this soup.
Best Soup Recipe Ever
I am always on the hunt. The hunt for the absolute BEST recipe for every food I love. I get fanatical in my research. I will search, study and test several recipes until I get the perfect outcome and then I get busy.
When formulating the recipe for the Best Chicken Soup, I added-a-pinch, took-out-a-pinch and tweaked until I was content. And better than content, I needed perfection. Sometimes this process takes years!
Creamy Chicken Soup isnt the only recipe that Ive perfected this way. Two foods for which my search is ongoing are the perfect white cake and perfect meatloaf. A couple of my recipes I am very proud are my Swedish Meatballs and my Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies. But thisthis soup is my all-time favorite. Its not only one of my favorite recipes, I happen to think its one of the BEST SOUP RECIPES on the internet.
Cream Cheese Chicken Soup Recipe
This cream cheese chicken soup was one of the very first recipes I ever posted. It’s still made all the time at my house even after all these years. One pot and about 30 minutes is all you need for this delicious cream cheese chicken soup recipe with fresh vegetables.
The recipe uses already cooked chicken so it’s a great use of leftover chicken or make it easy and buy a Rotisserie chicken. This is usually what I do because it saves so much time and it’s already seasoned.

HOW TO MAKE CREAMY CHICKEN BAKE
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish or similar size. Place chicken breast in baking dish in a single layer lightly salt and pepper. In a medium size bowl mix soups, sour cream, onion powder, mushrooms, chives and water. Next, evenly pour over top of chicken and lightly sprinkle with paprika. Bake on middle rack, uncovered, for approximately 1 hour, until chicken breast is cooked thoroughly and internal temperature reaches 165-170 degrees f. Cooking time will vary depending on size of breasts. *The best way to make sure the chicken is ready is checking theinternal temperature.

Homemade Condensed Cream Of Chicken Soup
This recipe is an updated version of a recipe I posted way back when I started RecipeTin Eats. The previous recipe was written starting with a homemade condensed cream of chicken soup thick and gloopy like Campbells soup in a can.
I went through a phase when I made homemade condensed soup which I would then keep for a few days then later use to make a soup or casserole. However, I found that I havent made condensed soup in years, mainly because it can only be kept for a few days so it kind of defeats the purpose of that recipe. But in case you want it, Ive kept it to get the recipe for the homemade Cream of Chicken Soup!

With just 395 calories for a meal size bowl, this cream of chicken soup recipe is healthier than most creamy soups because its made without cream. Its far healthier than canned lower in sodium, preservative free and other artificial additives.
And you can tell the difference with just one spoonful. It tastes so much better than canned, its almost a joke!

How To Make A Bchamel
In a small sauce pan, melt butter over medium low heat. Add flour to the pan, and whisk together to make a roux
Add the liquids chicken broth and milk, and whisk together to smooth out the lumps. Note: True béchamel uses only milk for the liquids. We are adding the chicken stock/ broth for that chicken flavor.

Cream Of Chicken Soup Recipe
Growing up, I was deprived of canned soup. And such is the case when youre a kid that you always want what you cant have.
I got sent to school with bento boxes and eyed off my friends peanut butter sandwiches with jealousy. I looked forward to sleepovers, not only because of the excitement of staying at a friends place, but because I got to try food that my mother would never make.
Such as soup from a can. I cant believe how much I used to love that stuff!
At some point, I grew up, learned how to cook, found and made a homemade cream of chicken recipe.

How To Make The Roux
To make a roux, you want equal parts fat and flour in this case 1/4 cup of fat and 1/4 cup of flour. However, the amount of fat might not be exact in this recipe because it’s difficult to know much fat your chicken will render in the pan. Just aim for about 1/4 cup of rendered chicken fat, but don’t worry about it too much. Even if your roux is a little too dry or a little too thin, it still will work.
No matter what, make sure to cook the roux until it deepens in color from white to golden and to whisk constantly to keep it from scorching. The darker the roux the more depth of flavor another trick I learned from making gumbo.

How Do You Keep Rice From Getting Soggy In Soup
Be sure to wait until the soup is cooled before adding the rice this will minimize the amount of broth the rice soaks up as it sits. If its at all warm, the rice will continue to cook as it cools. Or, you can precook the rice for 10 minutes, store it separately from the soup, and add it to the soup as its reheating.
Cream Of Chicken Soup Ingredients
Flour: All purpose flour will work just fine, if you would like to you can use whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour.
Milk: You can use just about any type of milk as long as they arent flavored. For example dont use vanilla almond milk, but if you need to use dairy alternatives that is totally fine!
Spices: This recipe calls for onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, dried parsley, and a dash of paprika. Depending on what chicken broth/stock you use, you might need to decrease the amount of additional salt you add. This helps you keep the sodium of the soup in line.
Chicken: The chicken in this recipe is totally optional. If you use the right chicken broth or stock, you wont be missing any chicken flavor, although, if you have some shredded or cubed chicken that you would like to add, it contributes some great texture.

THICKEN. Cook for about 1 minute, then slowly pour in the chicken broth, whisking as it thickens. The slower the better.
WHISK. Slowly add the milk and continue whisking. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
SEASON & SIMMER. Add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion powder, parsley, paprika, and chicken. Let simmer for 6-8 minutes until thickened.
COOL. Remove from the heat and let cool. Use in recipe or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
