Dunk These Into Your Spinach Artichoke Dip
So, now you may be asking yourself what goes with artichoke dip? Well, tons of yummy things. For starters, baked spinach dip or oven-baked spinach artichoke dip, was and still is popular with salty crackers. The best salty crackers to have are Ritz, Saltines, or any other cracker of you choice. Later, it became a popular bread dip! Yes, you read that right! Oftentimes, its served as a side to a bread as an appetizer and let me tell you, its soooo good! Its also used as a chip-dip, and it goes great with sturdier chips like tortilla chips or kettle-cooked chips. You can also add it to the center of a crunchy veggie tray!

How To Squeeze The Water From Frozen Spinach:
The Knorr Soup Mix is the one ingredient that makes this recipe so easy. The main veggie ingredient is Frozen Spinach. You can buy frozen spinach in many forms now, bags, microwavable bags, or even fresh ones that you have frozen.
We buy the huge plastic container of fresh spinach at Costco which we can not eat all before it starts to break down, so I always freeze half as soon as I bring it home. But the traditional frozen spinach comes in a box. It is just the right size and the spinach is chopped just perfect for dips.
Transfer the frozen spinach out of its package into a microwavable bowl. Microwave the frozen spinach just enough to have it not be frozen but not hot or cooked. You can also put the frozen package in the refrigerator overnight to thaw.
Placed a layer of paper towels in a Colander, layer the thawed spinach onto the paper towels in the Colander. With freshly washed hands pick up the paper towels with the spinach inside. If your paper towels are thin you may need to put them in several layers. Be sure to do this over the Colander.
Now with a firm grip and squeeze the water out of the spinach. Squeeze & squeeze & squeeze until there is not any water coming out of the paper towels. Your paper towel may tear, but that is why you are over the colander. Your spinach should be very dry and ready for making the dip.

How To Make French Onion Artichoke Dip
Some people prefer this dip straight out of the oven! It is exceptionally delicious served warm. It also makes it less likely that your crackers or chips will break when the cheese is still hot and soft. Still, others have a preference for cold spinach artichoke dip. For this variant, I would suggest you leave out the extra cheese topping as it can make the texture tougher when it cools and harder to scoop out.
Serving The French Onion Spinach Artichoke Dip
- Serve it warm: I mentioned earlier that perk to serving straight out of the oven is the hot cheese thats still soft and easy to scoop up. Serving it this way also works great when youre looking for a warm appetizer.
- Serve it cold: Yes, you can serve a cold spinach artichoke dip. Lots of people love it this way and find it more enjoyable with veggies when its cooled.
- Serve in individual cups: You can use ramekins to make individual servings of this dip to create individualized snack trays for family or guests.
- Serve in a casserole: As you can see in the images above, its a beautiful sight to behold in all its glory when served right out of a glass casserole dish!

How To Make The Bread Bowl:
If you are making a bread bowl around any holiday most bakery departments in the grocery store have a large quantity of the traditional round pumpernickel bread. Our store has one or two every week. But it may be best to check with the bakery department in your store to make sure they will have the traditional round loaf. If you are not a fan of the darker heavier bread you can also use any round loaf that is somewhat dense like a sourdough.
With a serrated long knife start about an inch from the edge of the loaf and cut out a circle in the middle. Be careful not to but through the bottom. Leave enough in the bottom so the dip does not leak through but make the hole deep enough for the whole recipe. Now you have the perfect bread bowl for your dip.
With the middle that you remove, cut into bite-size chunks to use for dipping. If I am having a large party I will buy a second loaf so I have enough for eating with the dip.
How To Store Artichoke Dip
- Can be stored covered tightly in the fridge for up to one week and reheated in the oven or microwave
- Can be frozen in a aluminum tray covered for up to three months, thawed overnight, and reheated in the oven
- For bold flavors, while sautéing the spinach, throw in some onions and then at the very end some minced garlic
- If you have fresh artichokes, marinate them in white vinegar and your favorite spices a day ahead
- Add dried herbs like oregano or rosemary on top of the cheese before broiling
- Strain canned artichoke hearts before adding them to the dish
- You can mix other cheeses with the mozzarella like edamame or cheddar

A Healthier Take On Making Parmesan Spinach Artichoke Dip
The great part of this dish is the basis of it is vegetables. Sure, easily arguable that its loaded with fatty things like mayonnaise, sour cream, or the French Onion dip. But, its actually easy to to make a bit of a healthier version of this dip. You can use a light cream cheese and fat free sour cream instead of the HeluvaGood! French onion dip. Or, use a French onion soup mix mixed in with some fat free sour cream and light mayo. You can focus on bringing out the flavors of the spinach and artichoke by adding fresh onions and garlic or other herbs and spices.
