Benefits Of Healthy Vegetable Soups

MY JUICE CLEANSE+DETOX JOURNEY – JUICE FROM THE RAW – 3 DAY CLEANSE

Healthy vegetable soups, on the other hand, provide vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, pytochemicals and fiber. I say healthy because most ready made soups that you buy in the supermarket can be laden with sugar and salt. There are some companies that are offering healthy, ready made detox soups.

Emmy-winning actor Michael Chiklis decided he wanted to drop 35 pounds when he had to wear a leotard for a film part and decided that a soup cleanse sounded infinitely better than a juice cleanse. He chose to drink ready made detox soups from a local company specializing in weight loss detox soups.

Why Diy Juice Cleanses Rock

Yes, it sounds like some crazy hippie/Gwyneth Paltrow thing, and it kind of is.

But when I decided to give a three-day DIY juice cleanse a try, I was stunned at how much I liked it.

As I thought more about it, I realized juice cleanses are perfect for travelers. Why? As a traveler, your routine is constantly getting disrupted, so its way harder for you to maintain a healthy eating pattern.

Even if youre eating healthily at your home base, you jet off to Europe for a few weeks and come back completely unhinged.

Also, most travelers I know are scrounging for their next plane ticket so they cant afford the fancy cleanses that come in pretty bottles.

Whats a traveler to do? A homemade juice cleanse.

Far cheaper than the stuff you can order, and a perfect solution to getting you back on the healthy eating wagon.

What Does A Detox Soup Do

3 Day Juice and Soup Cleanse Juice Revolution

Lets be clear: You cant eat something and instantly detox your body, but you can take daily actions to naturally support your bodys detox organs, like the liver and kidneys.

This detox soup is a hearty and filling way to squeeze more anti-inflammatory foods into your day, without taking any drastic measures. You dont have to eat it every day to see results, either, but you can, if you love it!

Heres what youll love about this soup:

    • Its properly combined. Following food combining principles may help to streamline your digestion and reduce bloating, so it can leave you feeling more energized.
    • This soup is low in calories. Since this is a broth-based soup, its low in calories, but is also loaded with fiber to help keep you feeling full.
    • The ingredient list is simple. No need to shop for specialty ingredients! All you need is fresh veggies and herbs, affordable dry lentils, and some spices you probably already have on hand.

This soup recipe is also flexible, so if you dont have all of the ingredients listed, feel free to swap them for what you do have. Zucchini, green beans, tomatoes, and more, will all be delicious in this soup.

What Are The Benefits Of Juice Cleanses

Depending on who you ask, juice cleanses are either super beneficial or have zero positive effects.

According to holistic nutritionist Alle Weil, Juice cleanses allow the body a break from overburdening it with potentially allergenic and heavy foods and emphasizes easy-to-digest-and-assimilate nutrients from pure and potent fruit and vegetables.

There are so many benefits but I believe the biggest benefits are that we are allowing the body to rest and refuel with an amount of alkalizing produce that we otherwise would not be able to consume on a regular basis, she explains. I find the body reveals a lot during and after a cleanse as far as what is at the root of a persons symptoms.

On the other end of the spectrum, body-positive nutritionists like Daisy Miller, a non-diet dietitian based in Rockville, Maryland, believe that there is no benefit to going on a juice cleanse. After all, highly-regimented eating are a major factor in developing eating disorders. If we’re talking about our intestines, they don’t need to be ‘cleansed, she says, noting that our intestines are not PVC pipes.

Here’s What A Three Day Soup And Juice Cleanse Is Really Like

It’s four days into 2017… raise your hand if you’ve already broken one of your well-intentioned resolutions. Spoiler alert: if you could see me right now, you’d see a raised hand . I’ve never done well with the amorphous “I’ll be healthier this year” or “I’ll try something new every day” resolutions as they are too easy to break or unrealistic to follow through. Needless to say, I need my goals in short attainable spurts and with a very clear set of instructions to follow.

Enter the somewhat controversial idea of a juice cleanse. While I understand the argument that your body already naturally cleanses itself and thus there is no medical need to go on a juice cleanse, I personally feel renewed and more clear-headed after a cleanse. Plus, it gets me to refocus on being intentional about what I put in my body. For me, that is what new year, new you is all about.

Now, we’ve talked to you about juice cleanses before — we’ve and discussed what we considered the pros and cons. But we haven’t yet discussed the trendy juice and soup cleanse concept. So in the name of research, I trotted out and purchased Jus by Julie’s 3-day Soup+Juice Cleanse to see what all the fuss was about.

So let’s walk through what each day looked like on this cleanse, what I liked and what was a no-go for me…

    Day 1:

  • Sweet Spin Juice: Kale, Spinach, Pineapple, Banana, Mango, Rice Milk
  • Split Pea Soup: Filtered water, split pea, onion, carrot, celery, salt, black pepper and garlic
  • Day 2:

    Breaking A Juice Cleanse

The day after completing the cleanse, eat mostly vegetables, either raw or lightly steamed, and fruit or nuts. Portion sizes should be small and the diet should be very similar to what you did to prepare for the cleanseno sugar, coffee, wheat, gluten-containing foods, processed foods, or dairy.

The next day, include more plant foods, such as beans, brown rice, or quinoa. Continue to add back foods that youd like to have in your regular diet. By the fifth day after the fast, resume eating regular meals.

Some people use the days after a cleanse to try to identify their reactions to foods. To do this, keep a journal and reintroduce foods systematically, noting any changes in energy, digestion, cravings, or other symptoms.

For example, on the first day, gluten may be introduced in small amounts. Then note what happens over the 24 to 48-hour period after reintroducing each food. Dairy is another food category that is often reintroduced carefully and tested.

Consult with a health care professional prior to a juice cleanse, particularly for cleanses lasting longer than one day or for anyone with a health condition.

My Experience With The Diy Juice Cleanse

I Did a 3 Day Juice Cleanse, Here’s What Happened | Pros and Cons

    Awesome.

I was shocked at how great I felt.

The only time I found it difficult was when my parents were cooking dinner, and I could smell the food they were making. Other than that, I rarely felt hungry.

I did work out while I was juicing , and I did fine. I pared down my runs by a few miles and didnt push myself, but I didnt feel unusually tired. Like I said, I actually had quite a lot of energy.

I enjoyed the clean and healthy feeling my body had and my skin even cleared up.

Best of all, it set me on a good path for the next few weeks. When you havent chewed for a few days, the idea of eating a box of DoubleStuf Oreos just isnt as appealing.

I was actually DRAWN to lettuce. Who thinks about lettuce? I liked it so much that Im confident Ill do another DIY juice fast in the future.

The ingredients cost around $50, which is expensive, but not horrifyingly so if you consider thats your entire food and drink budget for three days straight.

Be warned: this is not a quick way to lose weight. I definitely lost some water weight and felt slimmer around the middle, but I wouldnt do it for that sole purpose. It IS, however, a fantastic way to kickstart a healthy eating routine and feel good about yourself and your body.

What You Need To Know About A 3

Nothing but juice, for three days. No Cheez-Its, no coffee, no celery.

But really, by juicing, youre giving your organs a break from cleansing out all the nasty stuff youre eating all the time.

Youre also re-training your palate to like healthy crap.

The premise is that you drink six juices a day, with as much water and green tea as you want. I know that sounds like living hell, but it isnt.

    Whats difficult is the preparation.

Let me tell you: juicing is a hell of a lot of work. Its perfect if you work from home or can do it on a 3-day weekend. Otherwise, its going to be hard to find the time to cut up all the ingredients for the juice .

Ah yes, the juicer. Thats the only shitty part. You need one to do this. And theyre not cheap.

After I realized I like juicing, I bought this BALLER juicer, which costs $99 and is a #1 seller on Amazon. But at first, I just used my parents ancient one .

If youre not sure youre going to be into the whole juicing thing, then ask around odds are one of your health-nut friends has one. Or, if you live near a health food store , theyll usually make juice for you if you give them the recipes.

You can also go for one of the delivery cleanse kits, but theyre ultra expensive. Better to save your money for travel.

If you dont own a juicer, you can conceivably blend the ingredients together and then strain out the pulp. Just remember: no solids!

Who Are Juice Cleanses Safe For

To determine who cleanses are safe for, we must weed out those that theyre not. Eating disorders, while not the only concern to mull over when considering going on a juice cleanse, are certainly a determining factor. I would highly discourage the use of juice cleanses for anyone who struggles with disordered eating or an eating disorder since it can just be an extension of the disorder, says holistic nutritionist Amanda Carneiro of Raw Fitness and Nutrition. Also, juice cleanses can create a calorie deficit and force the body to run on cortisol, which can be detrimental for anyone struggling with adrenal issues.

As a general rule of thumb, Carneiro says that cleanses are safe for those looking for a way to detox from unhealthy foods, alcohol, or an overall unhealthy lifestyle. They can also be beneficial for giving your digestive system a break, she adds. Many people who struggle with digestive issues can have trouble digesting the fibers in fruits and vegetables. Since juicing removes the fibers, she says a cleanse can be really easy on the digestive system.

At the end of the day, the best way to determine whether a juice cleanse is right for you is to chat with your doctor about any pre-existing conditions that could adversely interact with ingredients or methods of the cleanse.

Is Their Winter Soup And Juice Cleanse For You

3 Day Fat Flush Diet Soup

After completing my own, I still dont think that I have any authority to tell you that you should or shouldnt try a juice cleanse. All I can do is tell you about my experience, right? Lets dive in.

I really wasnt as hungry as I thought I was going to be!

There is a LOT to drink throughout the day. Turns out a cup of Rooibos Tea, 4 juices, and 2 soups keeps your stomach pretty full! I definitely missed chewing, but my stomach wasnt grumbling and I never felt like I was going to pass out which are 2 stereotypes I assumed would happen to me. Not the case!

    Everything is DELICIOUS!

Okay, the Juice Springsteen is very green and kind of hard to get down but everything ELSE is delicious! ? I was already a fan of Real Good because I go to pick up a smoothie or juice here and there all the time anyway. But after doing this cleanse, I especially loved the Lucky Juice-iano, Butternut Squash Soup, and Juice Bigalow. Oh, and on Day 2, I got to have a bottle of their creamy almond and hazelnut milk and it was literally heaven. SO GOOD.

    I slept like a baby.

Because I am constantly juggling so much and working well into the night, I sometimes have trouble sleeping. Not during the cleanse though! Im assuming the lack of caffeine played a part in this, but regardless, I was out as soon as I hit the pillow each night. And I woke up on Day 3 feeling more rested than I have in ages. Such a win!

    This one is slightly embarrassing

    I definitely had low energy.

    • Meat: add in browned ground beef, lean turkey, sausage, pork, tofu or shredded chicken as a protein option.
    • Pasta: any type of pasta is a great way to add in thickness to your soup.

Is A Juice Cleanse A Healthy Choice For You

Following a juice cleanse can provide a short-term boost for starting a new healthy eating program or a quick reset after a few days of indulging, but it is not recommended as a long-term weight loss program. While following a juice fast for three days may provide short-term weight loss, it does not teach skills, like healthy meal planning and preparing, needed for sustained weight loss.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture 20202025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends consuming a variety of vegetables, fruits, grains, lean meats, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, dairy, and oil each day for a healthy, balanced diet.

A juice cleanse does not adhere to USDA guidelines and it is not considered a healthy eating plan since it does not provide guidance or long-term weight management.

How To Prepare A Juice Cleanse & Tips

Raw , organic juice is the key component of a juice cleanse. Room temperature or lukewarm water may also be consumed between each juice or meal to promote elimination.

Smoothies and some healthy foods can be included or substituted for those who require more calories. Some people may opt for raw or vegan food only, while others may have gluten-free meals and snacks.

A typical cleanse has three stages:

    • Preparation:For three to five days before the cleanse, gradually eliminate coffee, refined sugar, meat, dairy products, wheat, alcohol, and nicotine to reduce headaches, cravings, and other withdrawal symptoms during the cleanse. Increase intake of fresh vegetables, fruits, and fluids.
    • Cleanse:For the one to three days of the actual cleanse, drink at least 32 ounces of juice or smoothie daily. At least half should be green vegetable juice. If hunger pangs are persistent or uncomfortable, vegetable broth or a small snack such as carrots, celery, a salad, or a piece of fruit is often suggested.
    • Post-cleanse:Eat lightly for a few days, gradually adding foods back in over the course of several days.

Juice cleanse advocates claim that nutrients, phytochemicals, and antioxidants are more readily absorbed by the body in liquid form. However, research on the bioavailability of raw juices versus that of whole fruits or vegetables is mixed.
