The Calamari Won Us Over Because It Was Cooked Perfectly And Came With A Tasty Dipping Sauce
Price: $11.99 per order
I also ordered the calamari as part of my Create a Sampler Italiano platter, and it was served with a sprinkle of herbs of top and a generous portion of the spicy ranch for dipping.
I thought the calamari was perfectly deep-fried the bits tasted tender without being rubbery, which was a huge plus in my book.
Im not exactly sure whats in the breading, but I loved that it tasted pretty light. It made the deep-fried dish taste more delicate and sophisticated instead of heavy.
At $11.99 this appetizer was pricier than most of the other offerings so Im not sure its worth that much unless youre a big fan of calamari and you dont want an appetizer thats too heavy.

How Do You Make Gnocchi
Gnocchi is made from potatoes, flour, and eggs. Im not sure what genius came up with this combination, but I am forever grateful. Making gnocchi is fun and rewarding, if you have the time and inclination. Ive made it before but its been a while and now I just tend to use the store-bought varieties, as I find they work well in most recipes. If you want to try your hand at your own homemade gnocchi, allow me to refer you to this recipe. I hope you enjoy it and that it turns out perfectly.

Lets prep everything we will need for the recipe.
TIP: You can prep the veggies and chicken the night before for busy weeknight dinners.
Place your matchstick carrots in a bowl and set aside.
Next, thinly slice your celery and set aside.
Grab your chicken, I prefer to use chicken fillets, but you can use boneless skinless chicken breast as well.
Cut your chicken into bite-size pieces and set aside.
Fresh ingredients make me happy!
Roughly chop your spinach and set aside.
Finely chop your onion and mince your garlic.
I hate chopping onions and mincing garlic so I use frozen prechopped onions and frozen crushed garlic cubes!
Heat your olive oil in a large, tall pot over medium-high heat.
Add in your celery, onion and carrots and sauté for 5 minutes.
Next, add in your garlic and sauté for another 2 minutes.
Pour in your chicken stock, thyme and nutmeg.
Next, add in your chicken and stir.
Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce your heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 12 minutes.
While the soup is simmering measure out 2 cups of heavy or table cream.
I use either or, but I had table cream in the fridge today so that is what I used.
Empty your two packages of gnocchi into a bowl, separate all the pieces and set aside.
In a small pot over low heat, warm up your cream.
Mix it until fully combined and no lumps.

- Place your chicken breasts in next.
- Pour the remaining half of your Italian dressing over your chicken breasts.

- Close your lid. Pressure cook for 15 minutes.
- When the cooking cycle ends, do a natural release for 15 minutes.

- Turn your pot onto saute . Add the shredded chicken back in.

- Add in your cooked pasta and stir to coat the pasta completely.

How To Thicken Chicken Gnocchi Soup
For this Olive Garden chicken gnocchi soup recipe, we used flour to thicken it. In our expert soup opinion over here at Fit Foodie Finds, were firm believers that a slurry tastes so much better than corn starch and does the job to thicken it as well.
If you want your soup thicker, you can add more flour, but believe us 1/4 cup should do the trick!
Can I swap the flour for a different flour? The only other flour we suggest swapping all-purpose for in this recipe is white whole wheat flour or gluten-free all-purpose flour.

However, since its a cream-based soup, know that the consistency might change after you freeze and reheat it. But it will still be delicious!
If youre only keeping it for a few days, its better to refrigerate the soup in an air-tight container. It will last in the fridge for up to three days.
When you reheat leftover gnocchi soup, you may want to add milk because the gnocchi will have absorbed the broth. The milk will help reduce the soups thickness.

How Can You Make Olive Garden Chicken Pasta Your Own
- Change the pasta: This Olive Garden Crockpot chicken recipe works with other pasta shapesjust choose one thats sturdy so it will hold up under the chicken and creamy sauce. Short pastas with twists or ridges to hold the sauce work well, including penne, rotini, rigatoni, elbow macaroni and gemelli. Or, go with flat, wide strands of pappardelle.
- Use chicken thighs: Another swap you can make is to use boneless chicken thighs instead of breasts. Just increase the slow cooker time to about 6 hours on high or 8 hours on low.
- Add vegetables: When its getting near the end of the slow cooker time, lightly sauté some vegetables in a little olive oil until tender. Strips of red or green bell peppers, thinly sliced red onion, broccoli florets, or sliced cherry tomatoes are all good options. Stir them into the sauce with the pasta and chicken.

A Note About The Salad
Each of my salads-to-go was comprised of nearly a pound of iceberg lettuce and sliced onions topped sparsely with pepperoncini, tomato slices, and black olives . The highlight here was the perfectly crunchy croutons I wish there had been more than seven or eight to a bag! But then again, after eating two-foot-long breadsticks, I cant really complain about a lack of carbs in this lunchtime equation

I hate to admit this as a chef, but I do believe I once pronounced Olive Garden to be my favorite restaurant.
Dramatic pause. I mean, I was about 10 years old- so please give me that, and lets be real- the breadsticks are hot, salty, garlicky and all kinds of delicious .
However, once I grew up and actually visited Italy- even living there for a summer, I knew there was MUCH more to Italian food than heavily dressed salads and alfredo sauce.
But you know, even though its no longer my favorite restaurant I do love a good soup, salad and breadsticks lunch from time to time- and the soup I always order? Chicken Gnocchi, obviously!
Chicken Gnocchi Soup is basically Chicken Noodle Soups Italian cousin, with gnocchi in place of the noodles , Italian seasonings and a little cream stirred in at the end .
If only I had some breadsticks to dip
1 tbsp flour 8 oz dry or frozen gnocchi 4 cups low-sodium broth 2-3 cups baby spinach, packed ¼- ½ cup half and half or heavy cream

Is Zuppa Toscana Healthy
For starters, Zuppa Toscana doesnt have any grains or glutens in it, which is a plus if you are gluten free. It also contains a hearty helping of kale and potatoes, onions and garlic, all of which provide essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs every day. And chicken broth is good for your hair, skin, and nails and your immune system.
I admit though, that the sausage, butter, and heavy cream are not so great for you. They do provide protein and calcium, but also a lot of saturated fat. You could work around this by substituting a leaner Italian meat sausage, like chicken or turkey. You can also halve the butter and use fat free half-and-half or a plant-based cream or milk , though this soup wont be as thick and rich if you choose to do so, but it will still be yummy.
