Easy French Onion Soup Recipe made by kids – Ema’s Fun World

You can pour the pureed vegetable soup into ice cube trays and freeze it. Then transfer the frozen cubes to a freezer zip lock bag.

Defrost as many as you need, heat & stir, and combine with cooked pasta.

I wouldn’t recommend freezing the soup with the pasta because some pasta can get mushy once it’s thawed and reheated.

How To Make Chicken Noodle Soup For Kids

First, do not even think about grabbing an onion or garlic. We may want those flavors in the soup, but we do not want our kids to KNOW that flavor is in there. So, we will add the onion and garlic flavors by using powder instead of the real thing. Sneaky! I call them invisible ingredients.

Now, grab those baby carrots that you put into the kids lunches, the one vegetable they will actually eat. Right!

Slice those up into a small dice.

Saute those carrots in a little olive oil for about 5 minutes. Do not let them brown because for Gods sake, you know they will be able to taste that you burned the carrots and then your delicious soup will all of a sudden be hot garbage.

Next, add all the sneaky seasonings to add flavor, but not too much flavor, we are feeding kids after-all.

Now pour in the broth and stir in the chicken base. Increase the heat to medium/medium-high and bring the soup to a simmer.

Add the noodles and cooked chicken. Turn the heat back down to medium-low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the noodles are cooked thru.

Now serve a bowl of this soup to your kids with confidence!

I hope you give this recipe for Chicken Noodle Soup for Kids a try in your kitchen.

Vegetable Soup For Toddlers

This soup contains just a few simple, wholesome ingredients:

  • onion
  • celery
  • elbow macaroni

The macaroni and the vegetables are cooked separately in this recipe. You’re essentially making vegetable soup and cooking pasta separately.

It’s a bit of a pain to do this, but there’s a reason for it: You’ll be pureeing the vegetable soup so it’s super smooth and then adding the cooked macaroni to the pureed vegetable soup. This way there are no “mystery” ingredients floating around in the soup – just your child’s favorite pasta.

I use my beloved blendtec blender to puree this soup, but any blender or immersion blender can be used here.

Pumpkin And Carrot Soup

1. In a pressure pan, add cumin seeds to hot oil. Let these sputter.2. Then sauté the onions until golden brown and caramelized.3. Now, add the pumpkin, potato, and carrot pieces along with water about 1 cup .4. Add the salt, pepper, and soup powder.5. Take 3-4 whistles in the pressure pan. Let it cool completely then blend the soup in the mixer blender for even consistency.6. Serve warm with a dollop of cream.

Note: To add healthy fats to this soup you can toast and add pumpkin seeds powder as a topping.

Plus I give you lots of tips for how to get a picky eater to actually try this soup.

Soup can be a challenging food for picky toddlers to eat.

We learned that in Table Foods School and it totally makes sense. Soup typically has lots of different textures and floating bits that toddlers can’t identify. Plus there are too many vegetables floating around! It’s intimidating and toddlers often just refuse to eat soup. My son was no exception.

But he absolutely LOVES this vegetable soup so I wanted to share it with you, in case it works for your kiddo too!

Related: High calorie baby food, another great way for toddlers to get lots of nutrients! I still make this “baby food” for my son even though he is 3 years old.

You can definitely use the Jump to Recipe button at the top of the blog post to go straight to the vegetable soup recipe, but if you are here because you have an extremely picky eater and are trying to figure out how to get them to even eat soup in the first place then you should read this whole blog post!

A Devious Hack To Make Kid Friendly Soup

You can easily disguise the forbidden vegetables, so your kids dont recognize them. Simply cook the hated veggies and fling them in a blender with the liquid soup base. Blend until everything has liquefied. Easy peasy!

To give you an example from the recipes above. My boys would have loved the homemade chicken noodle soup, except for the dreaded celery lurking in its depths. Just sauté the celery along with the onions and garlic. Put in the blender with half the water from the recipe and blend until there is no trace. Add it to the pot along with the rest of the water and follow the recipe.

My boys happily slurped down any soup containing the few vegetables they liked and had no idea they were eating things like broccoli, chard and onion. I have never confessed my devious ways to them.

I will just add that my boys are now adults and eat everything . They lost their picky ways and love to try new foods. They are now a joy to cook for.

Tools And Tricks For Cooking Soup In A Crock Pot

I love how my crockpot allows me to make hearty meals for my family in little to no time at all! Here are some of my favorite crock pot tips and resources!

First off, you need a good crock pot. I prefer using a programmable crock pot. Its nice, because i can just add all of the ingredients, set the time and temperature, and then be on my way.

Cook double batches when you can. Then you can freeze half! I use portion-size freezer containers to cut down of food loss.

Keep water on hand. The longer a meal cooks in the crockpot, less moisture remains. If you are home, check on it here and there and add water as needed.

Points To Note While Preparing Soups For Your Baby:

    • Before making the soups, wash the vegetables and fruits thoroughly.
    • Always serve the soups fresh and warm. Better to consume the soups within 1 hour from the preparation.
    • Start with 4-5 tsp and gradually feed more quantity based on the baby’s interest and tolerance.
    • Watery soups can be added to baby porridges or cooked rice.
    • Spices can be added to soups after eight months, add one spice at a time when you are introducing, which helps to prevent allergic reactions and upset tummies.
    • If the recipe calls for formula milk, make sure not to boil/cook it. Prepare the soup with water and once the soup is warm, add prepared formula milk.
    • Don’t add salt to the soups until your baby turns one year.
    • If your baby is allergenic to any ingredient used in the soup recipe, please remove it while preparing.
    • Soups should be preferred occasionally during illness or monsoon/winter seasons To get the baby to adapt to different textures and tastes. Make sure to include a variety of foods in their monthly diet other than soups.

EAT | EASY BROCCOLI SOUP for KIDS

If you’ve got a super picky or stubborn toddler and you suspect they will outright refuse to eat soup, there are a couple of ways you can approach this.

Don’t mix the pasta and the pureed vegetable soup together at first. Think: does your kiddo like pasta OR pureed soup / baby food more?

If your child like pasta more than soup, give them the cooked macaroni and let them dip it into the soup. Or use a bit of the pureed vegetable soup as a “sauce” for the pasta . If they are OK with that, then try adding a bit more soupy sauce to the pasta. Next time make it even more saucier so the pasta is floating in the soup.

Or you can try dropping one piece of macaroni into the soup and have them help you “fish it out” and eat the macaroni with the soup and make it a fun game. Make a silly noise every time you drop the macaroni and scoop it out. Keep it fun so they are entertained and not focused on worrying about a new food in front of them.

If your child like pureed soup / baby foodmore than pasta, give them the pureed soup first. Then drop one piece of macaroni into the soup and offer it to them. Or add a few pieces of macaroni to the soup but keep only giving them the soupy part. The macaroni can just be there in the bowl until your child feels “safe” enough to try it. Frequent exposure to foods is often recommended in feeding therapy for picky eaters.
