Can I Use Another Type Of Noodle

Canning My Famous Chicken Noodle Soup!!!

Yes! Aside from egg noodles, other favorite pastas for homemade Chicken Noodle Soup include rotini pasta, cavapait, fusilli, cellentani or pasta shells. Some even like to use broken up spaghetti or fettuccine. You will need to cook these pastas longer than egg noodles.

Another favorite pasta of mine in soups is tortellini. I use it my Crockpot Chicken Noodle soup and the cheesy, melt in your mouth pillows are divine.

What Ingredients Make A Chinese Noodle Soup

Rice noodles: They are so easy to cook, just add them at the end and cover the pan. They will soak up the broth and result in a denser soup.

Dried Porcini mushrooms: These are one of the ingredients that brings the best flavour to the dish. Rehydrate them in boiling water before slicing them, then add the soaking water to the broth for added flavour.

Pak choi: This chinese cabbage adds a slight nuttiness to the soup. It only takes a few minutes to cook. Add it at the end, a few minutes before turning off the heat. You want the stem to remain crunchy.

Chicken: Marinated in soy sauce, garlic and ginger, the diced chicken is stir fried before making the soup. This process helps seal all the good flavours of the chicken. Set a little aside for garnishing when serving.

Sweetcorn: Use fresh, frozen or tinned. It adds colour and texture to the dish.

Carrots: Always a good addition to any soup! Dice or julienne them. They bring out the colour of the soup.

Herbs You Can Use In Homemade Chicken Soup

If youd like to play around, consider adding these herbs for different flavor combinations:

    • Lemongrass, for a fresh, citrusy bite
    • Tarragon, adds a mellow licorice flavor
    • Ginger, adds a spicy, aromatic sweetness
    • Fennel, adds a sweet, fragrant, anise-like flavor
    • Dill, added right before serving it gives the soup a bright flavor

How To Make Chicken Noodle Soup

Just like classic chicken noodle soup, this version begins with sautéing onions, carrots, celery, and garlic for a flavorful base. You can cut them any size you want, but we love small, bite-sized pieces.

Inspired by the Medicinal Chicken Noodle Soup from Food Front Co-Op in Portland, we love adding ginger and turmeric to this soup. Thyme is also lovely! Not only do these herbs and spices contribute healing properties, but they also add delicious flavor.

    • Ginger best known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea effects
    • Turmeric rich in a potent anti-inflammatory compound called curcumin
    • Thyme has a long history of use for supporting respiratory health

Next come the flavor essentials: salt and pepper plus your choice of broth or stock. We love the robust flavor of homemade , but store-bought works just fine, too!

Then for the chicken, you can use either breast or thigh meat. It cooks in the broth, infusing it with flavor and making it easy to shred or cut into bite-sized pieces. Or if you have leftover cooked chicken around, you can repurpose it by adding it to the soup a little later in the cooking process.

All thats left to do is add your favorite noodles and slurp any sickness away! Note that if youre not serving the soup right away, its best to keep the noodles separate so they hold their texture.

We hope you LOVE this chicken noodle soup! Its:Comforting

Should I Use Chicken Stock Or Chicken Broth

You can use either chicken broth or chicken stock for this Chicken Noodle Soup recipe, it really comes down to personal preference.

    • Chicken stock is made from long simmering bones which results in a fuller mouth feel and richer flavor due to the gelatin released from the bones as they cook.
    • Chicken broth, on the other hand, is made from simmering meat which results in a lighter, broth and is typically used for chicken broth. An exception, and more flavorful broth, is boxed bone broth.

When purchasing chicken broth or stock, look for a brand thats darker in color because this usually means richer flavor.

To use Rotisserie chicken, shredthe chicken, discardingthe bones and add about 3 cups shredded chicken to the soup after it has beensimmering for 10 minutes.
