What Kind Of Potatoes Should You Use For Potato Soup
Russet Potatoes are the best kind to use for this potato soup recipe. Their high starch content and light texture provide that creamy, smooth mouthfeel we are looking for. They work well if you want to completely cream the soup or if you want to mash a little but still have some chunks.
If you have Yellow, Red, or Yukon Gold Potatoes on hand, you can use them in a pinch. Theyre not quite as high in starch as good ol Russ, so they dont fall apart as easily. If you prefer your potato soup with distinct chunks of potato, you can substitute Yellow, Yukon, or Red.
But dont use any other kind of potato. They have high moisture content and are more waxy, meaning they dont get as creamy. Say no to waxy soup.
Creamy Cauliflower Poblano Soup

Best Tips For Making Soup Recipes
1. Season to taste. Raw vegetable ingredients need seasoning, and vegetable broths vary in salt level. If your soup is bland, dont hesitate to add generous pinches of salt and lots of fresh black pepper. Taste as you go!
2. Drizzle with olive oil. I always finish soups with a generous drizzle of olive oil. It adds richness and makes the flavors sing.
3. Save some for lunch! Soup often tastes better on the second day, so be sure to make enough to have leftovers. Most soup recipes also freeze well for up to a few months. Check out this post for my best freezing tips!
4. Spice to your level. Customizing your soup is the fun, creative part of cooking soup recipes. If youre making a recipe that calls for lots of spice but you prefer milder flavors, start with less. If you like things spicy, add more! Taste as you cook, and adjust the flavors to make something you really love.

From there, the recipe was easy to follow. Definitely use the lemon juice, it made all the difference. I added 1 T gumbo filet. My husband was thrilled! Ate two bowls. Really really great recipe.

OraAnna says:
One of my all-time favorite soups. Ive made this several times and really dialed in my favorite version. I leave out the green pepper, use 2 cups of milk and 2 cups of chicken stock, and double the garlic. The last time I made this I used a can of tri-blend beans in place of just kidney beans and it was glorious! Ill eat this for every meal, 3 days in a row.

How To Serve Soup As A Main Course
I feel like soup gets a bad rap when it comes to serving it for the main course.
Many people feel like soup isnt filling or you do not get your serving of protein. Where, in fact, you can easily get both your protein and vegetable intake.
A lot of recipes have either, chicken, beef, ground turkey, or many types of beans. These are all great sources of protein plus so much flavor!
Also, what would soup be without vegetables?! Especially when you make soup yourself you can pick and choose which vegetables you want to include so that everyone in your family will love it.
Soup is great for both of these reasons. And it can stand on its own as a meal or you can add more to serve with it!

If you’re craving something creamy and sweet, this recipe with a touch of maple and a little spice is a fantastic option. If I’m being honest, it’s one of the creamiest, heartiest soups I’ve ever tasted.
It nourishes both stomach and soul what more could you ask for?
