Looking For A Delicious Keto Dinner

A keto diet is high in fat, moderate in protein, and very low in carbohydrates. Following a keto eating pattern requires knowledge of what types of foods will fit well, and which types will need to be avoided or excluded completely, to adhere to your goals.

While many dinner recipes are traditionally high in carbohydrates â like pastas, potato dishes, and sandwiches â there are plenty of ways to make a low-carb, keto-friendly dinner without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. One of the best options is a keto soup.

When choosing keto soup recipes , look for ones that will fit into your macronutrient ratio, or those that can easily be adjusted to do so. A keto eating pattern typically follows a macro ratio of 55-60% fat, 30-35% protein, and 5-10% carbs. This would translate to approximately 20-50 grams of carbs on a standard 2,000 calorie diet, but note that not everyones keto eating pattern will be exactly the same.

When youre first starting out on keto, a good number to aim for is 50 grams of carbs per day. Once you get used to this amount, you can start reducing your carb intake from there. Your target carb goal will differ from others based on individual factors like your gender, age, and activity level.

Since this is a keto egg drop soup recipe, it doesnt have the cornstarch that traditional versions have to thicken. I think the broth is flavorful and delicious, and doesnt need to be thick.

Why I Love Soup Especially During A Thm Fuel

I wont lie. I.LOVE.SOUP. And I especially love incorporating soups into my THM Fuel-Cycles.

I did an experiment with my last FC where I had soups for every dinner during my week-long FC. For one, this made the FC so much easier because, most soups , can be prepared ahead and reheated. That way I could focus on cooking dinner for my family and just reheat soup for myself.

But also soup is surprisingly filling but usually lighter on the macros than other foods. Ive always found that I have the most success when I have soup for my last meal of the day. And my FC experiment proved that theory to be true, at least for me anyway!

And we all need more broth, especially Bone Broth, in our lives, and soups are an easy and delicious way to do that! And, as a bonus, Egg Drop Soup is a great way to make boring eggs a little more exciting !

Cooking Tips For Egg Drop Soup

Making this Loaded Keto Egg Drop Soup recipe is really no more complicated or time-consuming than making most other soups. To minimize the amount of time needed to prepare this recipe, however, there are a couple of things you can consider doing ahead of time.

For instance, you can chop and slice the fresh veggies and keep them in sealed containers or plastic bags in your fridge until youre ready to use them. You could also pre-measure some of the ingredients, such as the Clean MCT® Oil and the chicken broth, and put them in ready-to-add containers. When the time comes to make this keto soup, all you have to do is combine the eggs and broth, and then mix in the other ingredients.

To store your Loaded Egg Drop Soup, allow it to cool completely after preparing. Transfer it to a sealable container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, as this is generally the recommended amount of time to keep most leftovers before discarding.

If you dont anticipate enjoying the rest of your soup within that timeframe, you can also freeze this soup by dividing it into freezer-safe containers with lids. In the freezer, it should keep well for up to three months.

5 Minute Keto Egg Drop Soup

If youre on a ketogenic diet, you might be wondering if egg drop soup keto-friendly? Well, the keto egg drop soup recipe Im going to show you here certainly is but you might be disappointed to learn that restaurant egg drop soup generally isnt keto-friendly. Are there carbs in eggdrop soup? Yes. Why? Cornstarch. Lots and lots of cornstarch. Its even in the name. STARCH. Its practically screaming carbohydrates at you like a curse word. There are carbs in eggdrop soup from restaurants from the cornstarch used as a thickening agent. So what to do in youre keto and still want to enjoy egg drop soup?

    Well, you have two options:

  • Enjoy the same great flavor of the restaurant egg drop soup that you know and love but sacrifice the thick texture for a more brothy version
  • Thicken your keto egg drop soup with a little bit of xanthan gum instead of cornstarch to enjoy the same texture without the carbs in eggdrop soup.
  • I love the texture of egg drop soup so I went with the second option. It would make your soup quite as thick and viscous as what you get at the local Chinese restaurant, but it will keep it from being so brothy and miso-like. I love a good, brothy soup but when it comes to egg drop soup, I want that familiar texture!

    Gluten Free Egg Drop Soup

Traditional egg drop soup uses soy sauce for the salty umami flavor. Soy sauce is not keto because it has both soy and wheat which can be inflammatory on a keto diet. In order to combat this but still have a traditional flavor we chose to use coconut aminos. Coconut aminos are a low carb gluten free option for those who want a soy sauce replacement. It is not sugar free, but is lower in carbs and works well in keto recipes. If you prefer a less sweet soy sauce replacement you can try tamari which is packed with salty flavor and is 100% gluten free. While wheat free, it does still contain soy. Weigh out your options and pick whichever flavor and ingredients you prefer.
